Ramsey M. Woods
Ramsey Murray Woods was the first professor of sociology and economics at SHSTC, focusing on rural sociology and social inequality (1910-1940). Two buildings honored Woods: one of the Departmental Dorms - Woods Hall - and the Woods Building along Sam Houston Avenue. A stained glass window in Old Main was presented in his memory. The Ramsey M. Woods Scholarship fund was also named in his honor and available for graduate and undergraduate students majoring in Sociology.
