Lee Drain
Drain continued his education at East Texas State College (MA, 1952) and the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University (1960). A member of the Republic National Bank staff sicne 1953, he was named assistant vice-president in 1960. In 1971 Drain was appointed a member of the Texas State University System Board of Regents with reappointments in 1977 and 1983. He later served as president of the SHSU alumni association and was honored as a Distinguished Alumnus by SHSU in 1984. In 1990, the General Purpose Classroom building was renamed in his honor "for countless contributions to the Texas State University System, and to the State of Texas as well as for his faithful and dedicated service to education, and for the exceptional leadership and public service he has shown on behalf of his fellow man." The Drain Building Annex, a nearby seperate building, recieved its honorfic name in 2014.
