Dubbed "Housing Project 3" in its early stages (for following the Bearkat and Sam Houston Villages), Raven Village is shown midway through its construction in March 2006: the building main entrance (top), the southern wing (middle) and behind looking west (bottom).

Raven Village is a $15 million, 400-bed housing complex situated on the southern edge of campus.

It was built on the site of a number of 40-year-old student residences.

During the 2006-07 year the first, second, and fourth floor housed 50 males and 50 females while the third floor was reserved for learning cohorts and Bearkat Learning Community alumni. In addition the fourth floor was designated as an academic area.

Its name was chosen during the Residence Life-sponsored contest in October 2005, with over 700 different names submitted for consideration and narrowed down by a panel of faculty, staff, and students. The five students who submitted the winning name each received a $20 gift certificate to the Barnes and Noble University Bookstore. Other potential names included Lone Star Village, San Jacinto Hall, Templeton Hall, and Frank Cloud Hall.
