The Layer and Breeder Building was one of the buildings located at the Agriculture Center along northbound Interstate 45.

The 8,840 square-foot structure housed poultry, specifically layers (chickens raised for egg production) and breeders (chickens raised for selective breeders).

For six years, starting around 1988-89, the eastern end of the building was used for alligator research.

The building, not in use since the mid-1990s, was demolished in late 2010. An underground waste collection tank was also removed during this time.
