Hazel B. Kerper was a lawyer and professor with the Institute of Contemporary Corrections and the Behavioral Sciences (now College of Criminal Justice). She was the author of Introduction to the Criminal Justice System (1972).

In 1978, the courtroom in the Beto Criminal Justice Center was named in her honor.
