Col. Jackson E. Josey was a member of the Board of Regents of the Texas State University System, from Houston.For their dedication to and funding of civic and university projects, SHSU honored Col. Josey and the Josey family in the naming of the Josey School of Vocational Education. In Huntsville, a park, street, and Boy Scout lodge are also named for members of the Josey family.
