Andrew Jackson
 
 
Andrew Jackson was the seventh President of the United States (1829-37).

Sam Houston served with Jackson in Tennessee during the War of 1812; the two former a life-long friendship with Jackson serving as Houston's mentor. Houston's second son, Andrew Jackson Houston (1854-1941) was named for his father's friend and mentor. Jackson Hall was named in his honor. He was maried to Rachel Jackson, who is also honored on the SHSU campus.
