Houston House is one of the eight small houses on Sorority Hill, located north of 17th Street and between Avenues I and J.
The building originally housed members of the Loulie Estill Society, a literary group that began in 1939. The literary society existed until 1959 when the members became the charter members of the Gamma Rho chapter of Kappa Delta.
When the chapter later dissolved, the house was renamed to honor Margaret Houston, making it the second small house to carry her name. |

Looking up at Sorority Hill from Avenue J one can barely make out where the Greek letters Kappa and Delta were once fastened and/or painted on the western face of the building. |
