The final months of the Gintz Apartments (as shown in this March 2005 photo) were filled with some stress, as students planning to return had to find new places to live for the Fall 2005 semester.

Gintz Family Apartments

The Gintz Family Apartments were located southeast of the main campus on Avenue I. The eight units were reserved for families with a spouse or head of household that was a student of SHSU. A similar complex, the Malone Apartments, existed southwest of the main campus until 1998.

Knowing the Campus Mater Plan spoke of a large housing structure south of campus, it was imminent that all the campus-owned housing on Avenue I would be razed in the forthcoming years. A November 2004 Houstonian finally article revealed the university's plans to demolish the apartments once the last occupants left after the spring semester.

Family housing, in the meantime, was temporary moved to the Colony Apartments.

A new housing unit, Raven Village, was built in its place.
