An aerial photograph shows the four small houses south of the main campus.
In the spring of 2005, though area signage still notes Gidley's existence, the area between Aydelotte and McCray Houses was nothing more than an empty, badly-sodden yard. The months ahead would make the area even emptier.
In the Residence Life naming system, Gidley and the surrounding small houses were classified as "Four South," and later. "The Valley." The houses were demolished between 2001 and 2005.

Gidley House

Gidley House was located along Avenue I on the south side of campus.

For many years Gidley housed the Public Safety Services offices, otherwise known as the University Police Department, prior to the current Sam South location.

After UPD relocated, the house became a student residence. For two years starting in 2002 it was the home of Residence Life; the building was left empty when they moved to the UAC.

In May 2004 the Board of Regents approved its $55,000 demolition due to its poor structural condition.

Less than a year later the demolition of the surrounding houses was approved to make room for the construction of Raven Village.
