William Truett Creager was a native of Cleburne, Texas and received degrees from Baylor University and the University of Texas in Austin. He was employed at SHSTC as a professor of Education and the Dean of Men (1947-1963). He assisted the Caballeros, one of the men's social groups, in becoming affiliated with the national Sigma Chi fraternity.

The Creager Memorial Award is an annual student award given to an outstanding male senior. The Creager House was named in his honor.
