The Colony was an apartment complex located at the southeastern corner of the intersection of Bobby K Marks Drive (Avenue H) and 17th Street.
The complex consisted of 11 buildings, 10 of which were two-story, unfurnished apartments with two bedrooms, one bathroom, a kitchen, and living room. The one remaining building was a one-story structure housing offices and laundry facilities.
In decades past, Colony was one of the most popular places to live on campus, with upperclassmen signing waiting lists semesters in advance to get a chance to live there. With the demolition of the Gintz Family Apartments, the Colony units and surrounding grounds were refurbished to become the university's only family housing location.
Due to their age and poor condition, the Colony Apartments were razed August-December 2007. The property was converted to a 350-space parking lot that opened in March 2008.
