The Presidents Tree is a southern magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora) planted east of the main quadrangle after the turn of the twentieth century.  It stood outside the university president’s residence and today is part of the alumni garden.
A memorial plaque in the alumni garden gives the significance of the land and the magnolia tree.
