Gidley House was located on Avenue I on the south side of campus. In the Residence Life naming system, Gidley and the surrounding small houses were classified as "Four South," and then later as part of "The Valley."

The house was identified as one of the Men’s Cooperative Homes when its honorary name was approved by the Board of Regents [1].

Beginning in the 1970s the house became the headquarters for the Public Safety Services offices. After the University Police Department relocated to its Sam South location, the house reverted to a student residence.

For two years starting in 2002 it was the home of Residence Life; the building was left empty when the department moved to the UAC.

In May 2004 the Board of Regents approved its $55,000 demolition due to its poor structural condition. Raven Village was completed on the site in 2006.

Gidley House In the spring of 2005 - though area signage still notes Gidley's existence - the area between Aydelotte and McCray Houses was nothing more than an empty, badly-sodden yard. The months ahead would make the area even emptier.
Gidley House In the mid-2000s, the remaining campus housing along Avenue I was leveled in preparation for Raven Village.
