The Alumni Fountain is located in the central part of campus between the Lowman Student Center and Rather Communication Building. It was installed at the western end of the LSC Mall area during the campus renovations of the early 1980s. Along with the nearby Alumni Garden and Bearkat Plaza, the fountain area serves as an area for students to congregate.
The Pedestrian Mall dedication plaque is dated 1981. The mall area would eventually be extended in 2007 and become known as Bearkat Plaza.
