Bowers Stadium is part of the Athletics Complex on the eastern edge of campus at the intersection of Bowers Boulevard and Sycamore Avenue. It is home to both the SHSU football and track programs.

Originally named Bearkat Stadium, the 14,000-seat home of Bearkat football opened on September 13, 1986 with a 23-6 victory over Montana State. The largest capcity crowd (16,148) was in 1994 when the Bearkats defeated nationally-ranked Alcorn State (48-23) on ABC-TV.

There are three freestanding ticket booths located north, southeast, and southwest of the stadium.

Prior to this stadium, football games and many other campus-wide events were held at historic Pritchett Field.

Bowers Stadium The third and final phase of the five-year renovation to Bowers Stadium included the addition of an elevator to the press box that took place between May 2008 and April 2009. But don’t be fooled: the elevator runs along the left (north) side of the ticket booth. To even out the look of the building, a false shaft was added to the right (south) side that house large storage closets on each level.
