Stephen Fuller Austin is the founder of Anglo-American Texas, having led the first successful colonization of the region, which earned him the epithet "Father of Texas." Austin is remembered in Texas history for his many efforts on behalf of Texas before, during, and immediately after Texas' Revolution with Mexico.
Austin College and Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogodoches are two educational institutions that bear his name.
The Austin College Building in Huntsville (Austin Hall) carries his name. |
